Following the devastating fire on 8 February 2024 when the wood working production was lost the Directors of Getama agreed that production of all Getama Wegner models are transferred to Carl Hansen and Son as of January 2025 with anticipated production in 2026.

GE201, also known as ‘the People’s Chair’ was first presented at the Furniture Fair in Copenhagen’s Bella Centre in May 1982 and was the result of a long development process. The chair initially numbered GE601m is a simplified version of an earlier model GE525.
